Lesson 3 of 3

Cross-Boundary Tracking: Recap And Verify

Recap every lesson, then check your whole container in one pass.

Both lessons keep one session intact across a boundary: the linker passes GA4's identity to another domain in the URL, and the postMessage bridge passes an embedded widget's event up to the parent where GTM can see it.

Export your container and verify the module below.

What you covered

Check your knowledge

A quick quiz on what this module taught. Pass it and it counts toward your course certificate; you can retake it any time.

5 questions. Answer all of them, then submit; you need 4 of 5 to pass.

  1. 1. Visitors go from yourdomain.com to checkout on payhost.com and GA4 shows the checkout as a new session with payhost referrals. What fixes it?
  2. 2. After configuring cross-domain measurement, what visible change confirms the linker is working?
  3. 3. A widget inside a third-party iframe fires a conversion, but GTM on the parent page never sees it. Why not, and what is the bridge?
  4. 4. In the postMessage relay listener, why validate event.origin before pushing to the dataLayer?
  5. 5. What information does the _gl linker parameter actually carry between domains?

Answer every question to submit.
